Champion for Pensions (C4P) Pledge
The greatest challenge facing Canada today is growing income inequality. The growing income gap is the result of policies which have increased spending on tax cuts favouring the wealthiest Canadians and corporations, decreased spending on public services and attacked labour rights.
Canadian seniors are seriously impacted by growing income inequality. Despite contributing to a strong Canadian economy through decades of hard work, an increasing number of seniors do not have adequate income security.
We need a national conversation on how to address this problem.

My pledge as a Champion for Pensions (C4P) is to:
  • promote and defend pension plans for Canadians that ensure adequate retirement income for workers and their families;
  • raise awareness that pension funds play an important role in creating a strong and equitable economy;
  • promote an effective plan to improve Canada’s public pension system that includes:
    • increasing Old Age Security / Guaranteed Income Supplement benefits;
    • expanding the Canada Pension Plan; and
    • a stronger regulatory system governing financial institutions which manage the private retirement savings of Canadians.
